Why is Louis Vuitton so prestigious?

Louis Vuitton has been at the forefront of fashion ever since it came into existence over the last 100 years ago.

The name alone exudes luxury. For this fashion icon, “Luxury” is the namesake and brand. The “V” crossed over the “L” logo itself is an international namesake. When you think of the Louis Vuitton brand, what comes to mind is a luxury item that stood the test of time. The finest handmade leather products ever sold, quality beyond measure, craftsmanship, and beauty. As stated in Vogue concerning this label, “Instantly recognizable as, say, Chanel No. 5, Coca-Cola, and Mickey Mouse (October 5, 2021).”

To give you a brief history of this fabulous fashion house. In 1837, a 16-year-old Louis Vuitton arrived in Paris by foot and started apprenticing for Monsieur Maréchal (May 23, 2014).

Louis Vuitton stayed for 17 years, and he opened his workshop at 4 Rue Neuve-des-Capucines near the Place Vendome.

The bag designs had not changed much until designer Marc Jacobs introduced in 1997 the Vernis, a patent version of the Louis Vuitton bag, and the graffiti painted designer bag painted by the late pop art designer Stephen Spouse. Then in an even more bold move under the guideship of Design Director, Marc Jacobs Japanese artist Takashi Murakami designed the “Iconic” Multicolor Monogrammed bag.

Here are a few of the most famous and classic Louis Vuitton bag designs of all time:

The

“Speedy”

bag by far is the most popular and classic of the Louis Vuitton bags. This bag was first designed in 1930 and has proved to be the most popular Louis Vuitton bag. Additionally, this bag has been made in different sizes. This classic bag is shaped like a doctor’s bag and essentially can be added to any wardrobe.

The next bag is the

“Alma”

bag with a flat, sturdy bottom and half-moon or rounded shape top. The handle is rolled leather. Designed by Louis Vuitton’s grandson Gaston-Louis Vuitton in 1934, the Alma bag was named after the Alma Bridge, which connects two renowned Paris neighborhoods over the Seine (10/12/2021).

Lastly, the

“Neverfull”

bag was introduced in 2007. This is my go-to everyday bag. This design is a tote bag, travel bag, beach bag, and everything all in one. You can get this bag in many styles and designs.

These designs and others can be purchased in resale stores such as Farfetch, Rebag, The Real Real, and eBay, to name a few.

Below is codogirl.com on “How to tell a real Louis Vuitton from a fake, (10/12/2021).”

2. Look Closely at the Stitching Quality and Pattern.

3. Check the Material, Hardware, and Build Quality.
